Description: This data shows the locations of the surface water intakes within the Essex Region Source Protection Area (ERSPA), along with the intake classification and pipe depth of the intake.
Description: This data shows the locations of the water systems within the Essex Region Source Protection Area (ERSPA), along with the owner, operating authority, and estimated population served by the system.
Description: This data shows the locations of the Significant Groundwater Recharge Areas (SGRA) within the Essex Region Source Protection Area (ERSPA), along with the associated vulnerability score (Vscore) of each polygon. The Vscore can be either 2 = low vulnerabiity, 4 = moderate vulnerability, or 6 = high vulnerability. Neither of these areas contain any significant drinking water threats at this time.
Description: This data shows the vulnerability scoring areas for surface water (VSA_SW) within the Essex Region Source Protection Area (ERSPA). Refer to the Assessment Report and/or the Source Protection Plan with regards to threats associated with these areas. The only areas which can be signified as having significant threats, using the vulnerability scoring approach, are those with a vulnerability score (Vscore) of 8.1 or greater, and then only for specified threats.Note that for the Municipality of Leamington and Town of Lakeshore, some of the areas are outside of the jurisdiction of the ERSPA and fall under the authority of the Thames-Sydenham and Region Source Protection Region (TSRSPR).
Description: Polygon dataset which is a 2019 representation of Ecological Land Classificaion (ELC) mapping within the Essex Region using the 2008 version of the standard. Dataset was created by the Essex Region Conservation Authority. This dataset includes mapping for the area immediately outside Point Pelee National Park in Leamington ON, known as the Greater Park Ecosystem. Source and dates of mapping are included in the attribute table.

Description: This is a polygon layer showing the extent of the regulated areas of the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority within the Municipality of Leamington. It includes the components: flood prone areas, valley land hazards, watercourse setbacks, and wetland setbacksif they exist in the municipality.

Description: Wetlands are lands that are seasonally or permanently flooded by shallow water, as well as lands where the water table is close to or at the surface. In either case, the presence of abundant water has caused the formation of hydric (moist) soils and has favoured the dominance of either hydrophytic (water-loving) or water tolerant plants.
The term wetland is a general one and includes specific land types commonly called marshes, bogs, swamps and fens. Other terms sometimes used to describe wetlands include mires, sloughs and peatlands.
Periodically soaked or wetlands being used for agricultural purposes that no longer exhibit wetland characteristics are not considered to be wetlands for the purposes of this definition.
Wetland polygons are mapped independently from other hydrographic data classes and may overlap water bodies or other hydrographic data.
Not all wetlands have been identified and mapped. Active maintenance is ongoing province-wide.
Evaluators using the Ontario Wetland Evaluation System (OWES) will find additional guidance on the Ontario Wetlands evaluation page.
For user friendly viewing of the wetland data, navigate to Ontario’s Make a Natural Heritage Map web application. This map application displays wetlands that have been evaluated using the Ontario Wetland Evaluation System as provincially significant or non-provincially significant. The application also displays wetlands that have not been evaluated but have been mapped using other procedures.
The wetland data layer is updated whenever existing wetlands mapping is revised and when new wetland features are added throughout the province.
Annual copies or “snapshot” of the Wetland data class have been retained on a irregular basis since 2002. Copies of these snapshots can be made available upon request. Please note that the Wetland data class is not a comprehensive annual inventory of all wetlands in Ontario.
For more comprehensive remotely sensed wetland land cover data please refer to provincial or federal land cover mapping inventories including products such as the Southern Ontario Land Resource Information System (SOLRIS), Ontario Land Cover Compilation (OLCC) and other land cover mapping datasets.
*Due to limitations of the shapefile format, Wetland data can only be downloaded in the file geodatabase format (.gbd). On Ontario GeoHub, access the file geodatabase by clicking Download > Additional Resources > Complete File Geodatabase.

Description: This line layer describes roads for which Parks Canada has a responsibility, jurisdiction, or that fall on Parks Canada lands. This includes roads found in national parks, national historic sites, and some roads for national marine conservation areas. Some of this data will be shared as roads for which Parks Canada is the authoritative source. Data that is not to be shared with the public will be flagged by the Suppress_Public attribute. This layer is cartographic and does not contain linear referencing or network information. Data suitable for sharing with the public will sent to Natural Resources Canada to update the National Road Network (NRN) and CanVec datasets.
